The Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 Formulation Project was formally inaugurated on 27 August 2014 at a Launching Ceremony organized by the General Economics Division (GED) of the Planning Commission of the Government of Bangladesh. Within the context of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 project, Defacto works together with Bangladesh and Dutch experts to develop long term strategies to deal with socio-economic trends and climate change in one of the largest and most dynamic deltas in the world.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal launched the project at the NEC Conference Room of the Planning Commission. He stressed the need for development efforts to be continuous, and mentioned that climate change is a global phenomenon affecting everyone everywhere. He also thanked the Government of The Netherlands for their cooperation to Bangladesh in tackling delta management issues. H.E. Mr. Gerben de Jong, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, spoke at the ceremony as well, mentioning that Netherlands as a delta faces challenges similar to Bangladesh, and is happy to work together to share knowledge on delta management issues.
